Are You? Reflection

Reflection. Reflection is the process of looking inward in an effort to see yourself more clearly.

Are you even looking at yourself at all? For some, it may be that you look at yourself a little too closely (hey anxiety!). If you took a moment to study your reflection, what would you see? Take a few deep breaths then go find your reflection and take note of what you see.

Using a mirror or maybe some clear water, take a moment to reflect with clarity. Try to see yourself from the other side. Does your view look different? It should. That reflection is not always there, and when it does appear, it is usually different than it was before.

Are you in your own way? Are you creating walls? What is your reality? What do you hope to see the next time you look at your reflection?

Reflection is free, and it is a gift.

“Did you ever wonder if the person in the puddle is real, and you're just a reflection of him?”

― Bill Watterson

GET DOWN [this is where those solopreneurs or small business owners can, well, get down (to work) with me]

Working in and on your business makes it very easy to know the day-to-day personality of your business. When was the last time you reflected on who or what your business is? All those day-to-day improvements and minor tweaks here and there add up. Without even having the intention, you might have done away with a product or service because it made sense at the time, but was that your business’ foundation? Did your business completely let go of what got it started in the first place? Have you done away with the little details because those things take too much time?

Reflection will allow you to not only see what is missing, but also recognize the things you forgot to celebrate. Reflecting on data, goals, achievements, and accomplishments can easily get pushed aside. Taking the time to reflect will tell you what you have done, what you are doing, and align you with where you want to go.

In preparation for my future reflections, I asked myself the following questions:

  • Why did I start Trestle?

  • What are my goals for Trestle in 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years?

  • What values do I have for myself as the founder of Trestle?

  • What values will Trestle embody as a business?

  • What are Trestle’s first offerings and why are they important?

Even if you have been established for a while with your business, these questions still apply to you! What did you see in your reflection?

Want to chat more about it? Respond to this email with your answers and I will share mine with you! Let’s get down to business.

With gratitude,

Joelle
